Rideshare operator DiDi comes to Perth Airport

25 October, 2019
Ridesharing service DiDi is the latest to come to Perth Airport, launching in Western Australia early next month and offering passengers yet another transport option to and from the airport.

DiDi Australia currently operates in Victoria, Queensland and New South Wales after establishing its ridesharing platform last year.

Perth Airport Chief Corporate Services Officer Debra Blaskett said the new rideshare operator will give people coming to and from the airport even more choice.

“Passengers travelling to and from Perth Airport already can choose from a number of options including Taxis, Uber, charter vehicles, car rentals, public transport and our own parking products, and the addition of DiDi into the mix will give yet another alternative,” Ms Blaskett said.

“We are continuing to work to ensure our passengers have a smooth travel experience. The completion of the $1 billion road project Gateway WA has greatly enhanced access to Perth Airport for passengers, and we are also working closely with the State and Commonwealth Government to deliver the $1.86 billion Forrestfield-Airport Link which will provide direct public rail access to Perth Airport,” she said.

DiDi Australia General Manager Lyn Ma said operating in Perth represents a significant milestone.

“We’re thrilled to be launching in Perth, a stunning and fast-growing city with a receptiveness towards ridesharing and new technology. As part of our launch, it’s exciting to partner with Perth Airport to provide locals and visitors access to our safe, reliable and value-for-money rideshare service to and from Perth’s premier transport hub,” Mr Ma said.

Perth Airport offers rideshare companies the use of its facilities which include remote holding areas for drivers while they wait for a trip request and designated waiting zones for rideshare customers near the front of the terminals.
