Singapore Airlines introduces its A350-900 aircraft to Perth

03 June, 2019
Western Australia has scored another business, trade and tourism win with Singapore Airlines upgrading to its new A350-900 aircraft for one of its four daily services from Perth Airport.

The airline also announced that it would deploy a second A350-900 on the route from 1 July, delivering Perth two A350-900s and a Boeing 787-10 on three of its four daily flights.

Perth Airport CEO Kevin Brown says the decision is another vote of confidence in Western Australia’s tourism sector

“The use of the A350-900 aircraft on two of its daily services will add around 50,000 more seats to Singapore Airlines’ Perth-Singapore route on a return basis.

“Singapore Airlines has a long and proud record of linking the world with Perth – a relationship which has delivered benefits for more than 50 years.

“Our partnership with Singapore Airlines has seen Singapore become Western Australia’s third biggest international visitor market, injecting $244 million into the WA economy in visitor expenditure alone last year,” Mr Brown said.

“The Singapore Airlines Group also flies to 139 destinations across 37 countries and territories  across the globe providing easy access to Perth via its hub in Singapore.

“With so many new attractions to offer our visitors in Perth and Western Australia, we’re confident that new visitors will enjoy their stay and those returning will be pleasantly surprised at the changes that have taken place.

“Singapore is also a convenient destination for many Western Australians, just five hours from Perth and close enough for a short break.

“Perth Airport continues to work with its airline partners and the State government to increase services which encourage growth in visitor numbers to Perth and Western Australia,” Mr Brown said.

The airline will operate its A350-900 aircraft on its daily SQ213 (Singapore to Perth) and SQ226 (Perth to Singapore) services. The aircraft has a total of 303 seats which provides a capacity increase of around 12% per flight compared with the previous aircraft.
