FedEx has opened a new approximately 3,000sqm office and warehouse purpose-built facility on the Perth cargo terminal grounds. The warehouse has an automated cargo sorting system that can sort up to 3,000 packages an hour.

Express transportation company FedEx approached Perth Airport Pty Ltd (PAPL) in 2015 looking to open a new state-of-the-art facility.

The new building needed to;

• be close to the international terminal but in a location that was still easily accessible to clients and major roads;
• be completed before their current lease expired giving them adequate time to vacate and move into the new premises;
• comply with FedEx specific requirements regarding vehicle access and circulation that would enable them to efficiently use their conveyor system; and
• include a significant proportion of their fit-out as part of the design and construction process.

The facility has been designed for flexible longevity and can accommodate current and future FedEx operational arrangements.
