Busy holiday season at Perth Airport

17 December, 2015
December and January are busy months at Perth Airport, with more than 2 million passengers expected to pass through Terminals 1, 2, 3 and 4.

“We want everyone visiting Perth Airport over the next few weeks, to have a happy and safe travel experience,” said Fiona Lander, Executive General Manager Corporate Affairs, Perth Airport.

“During this busy period, it’s always a good idea to allow extra travel time to and from the airport so that your holiday gets off to a stress-free start. Make sure you check your itinerary carefully for the correct travel dates and times, and which terminal you need to go to.

“A lot of exciting changes have taken place at Perth Airport this year, with additional dining and retail options available, as well as the opportunity to purchase duty free and car parking on line.”

Retail, Food and Dining Options

Everyone loves to get their holiday off to the right start as well as save some time and a few dollars before they fly, and what better way than by making the most of the variety of products and discounts on offer at Perth Airport.

“The lead up to Christmas is such a busy time for everyone, so we’ve tried to take some of the hassle and stress out of travelling during the holiday period by ensuring we have something for everyone in our retail stores,” said Ms Lander.

“Whether flying domestically or internationally, you’ll find everything you need for that last minute gift – from tax and duty free exclusive products to luxury watches, cosmetics to books, travel essentials and the latest technology and gadgets.”

Make your Christmas shopping easy, with the option to pre-order duty free online at perthairport.com.au.  You can then simply collect your gifts at the dedicated pick-up points either on your departure or when you return.

“If you need foreign currency for your holiday break, we recommend ordering online through Travelex where you’ll receive a great rate and pay no commission, and have the added convenience of picking it up at the airport before you fly,” said Ms Lander.

Just in time for the holidays, two new food and beverage areas have opened in the T1 Domestic and T1 International Terminals, offering passengers and visitors to the airport the best in local produce, premium wines and beers and international cuisine in contemporary, centrally located dining areas.

“Customers can now experience greater choice, excellent value and quality service across our terminals, so why not leave some extra time to relax before your flight with family and friends and enjoy great food from Western Australia and around the world,” said Ms Lander.

Long Neck, a bar and restaurant with a menu designed by well-known local chef, Chris Taylor, is now located in both T1 Domestic and T1 International, and is one in a number of new dining outlets.

Customer Parking

Perth Airport provides holiday season parking options for everyone. With more than 23,000 bays available across the airport estate, customers can be sure that they will always be able to get a safe and secure car park.

Whether travelling for the weekend or a longer trip, start your journey the easy way by pre-booking your parking online in one of the 23,000 car spaces available by visiting perthairport.com.au and save up to 25% on normal rates.

“It’s fast and convenient, and we currently offer great discounts when you book online in our Fast Track, Short Term and Long Term car parks,” said Ms Lander.

“We hope our customers make the most of the convenience of shopping or booking their parking online, and we wish all travellers a safe and happy holiday period.”

Christmas Activities

Visit Perth Airport this holiday season to view a stunning array of Christmas decorations in Terminals 1, 2 and 3.  Check out the 10 metre tall Boab inspired Christmas tree, decorated with more than 21,000 LED lights, on the Terminal 2 forecourt.

Santa will be visiting with treats for the kids from 19 to 24 December and there will be an outstanding array of musical entertainment through T1 Domestic and T1 International Terminals. From classical to jazz and Latin American, musicians from the Western Australian Symphony Orchestra, Perth Symphony Orchestra and Honours graduates from the WA Academy of Performing Arts will perform and delight the week before Christmas.

Public Viewing Area

During the holidays, get up close to our runways by visiting the Public Viewing Area.  Open during daylight hours, this is an excellent way to see aircraft in action.

Located on Dunreath Drive, the viewing area has a magnificent view of the main runway, and has been designed to incorporate educational elements relating to aviation history and the types of aircraft at Perth Airport. It is a great location for families and children to farewell departing passengers, and watch planes take-off and land.
