Dreamliner 787 scoots into Perth Airport

05 February, 2015
Perth Airport Pty Ltd today welcomed Scoot’s brand new Dreamliner 787-900 aircraft to Terminal 1, which was met on arrival with an impressive water cannon salute.

The aircraft, aptly named ‘Dream Start’, is the first Dreamliner service to be operated by Scoot in the Australian market.

Introducing their Perth services in December 2013, Scoot has significantly stimulated the Singapore market, with Singapore scooting ahead to become Western Australia’s second biggest international visitor market, injecting $193 million into the WA economy last year. Singapore-Perth is now the largest sector destination operating out of Perth, and Australia’s eighth busiest international route.

The new Dreamliner 787-900 will offer passengers the choice to fly in one of the 375 seats in either Economy or the all leather, premium ScootBiz - both competitively priced.

“We are delighted that Scoot chose Perth-Singapore as the route for its first Dreamliner 787-900 service.  The daily services are proving to be very popular, and customers now have the option to travel on one of the world’s quietest and most modern aircraft,” said Brad Geatches, Chief Executive Officer, Perth Airport.

“Singapore is a convenient destination for many Western Australians, just five hours from Perth and close enough for a long weekend or short break,” said Mr Geatches.

Scoot also flies from Singapore to Hong Kong, Bangkok, Taipei and three destinations in mainland China.  They partner with Tigerair Singapore to add to its network, with destinations spread throughout the South-east Asian region including emerging destinations like Manila in the Philippines and Ho Chi Minh in Vietnam.

Perth Airport is committed to Western Australian tourism through increased services and establishing new and improved airline partnerships that encourage growth in visitor numbers to Perth and Western Australia.
